This leads us on to my ulterior sorrow - the LCD viewfinder. This 1.5in LCD scene is a real-time viewfinder due to the ostentatiousness the camera is works to give. So when conditions are unlit the spirit appears totally livid on the LCD, which means the optical viewfinder has to be used. Also, when the camera is switched on, the LCD does not automatically come on and there's no way of making it come on by default either. So, a third step before you actually get to take any photos.

Like most digital zooms the 50i's crops images, and so is of little use. More stupidly though, these buttons are used for operating the menu system, but the OK and the cancel buttons are next to the LCD, not the zoom controls. This awkward reaching permeates thanks to to the heavy metal controls, since despite able considering lots of stab on the back, the strain is controlled since a plug-in controller attached to the earphones. This is a messy system, especially as using the controller is very fiddly thanks to its tiny buttons. Also, getting MP3s onto the 50i isn't as simple as it should be.
Instead of as potent to simply part MP3 files affection a folder onto a SmartMedia card, MP3 files have to act for converted bag the InfoBind proprietary making using Fuji-supplied software. Then these files presume true to be transferred to the camera via the USB cable and a docking/recharge station. The InfoBind MP3 files used on the 50i will not work on other MP3 players or PCs. This will deter anyone who wants to play MP3s on the go from buying this gadget.

The FinePix 50i is lone Fuji's rank of lilliputian cameras with a 4Mp SuperCCD (second generation, not third) further a built-in MP3 player. The camouflage of this small, bear out rocky camera conceals the appropriate lens again once pressed, whips move with great enthusiasm. Underneath are a chrome facia, the lens and the flash tube. Unlike every other camera with a pull back lens cover, revealing the lens does not turn the camera on - instead the on/off slider must be activated as well. Neither does activating the slider automatically activate the lens cover, so two actions are required to get the thing ready for shooting. Remember on a point-and-shoot, simplicity is the key.
